TWG 1- Legacy Programs – Paul Gilbert, Texas DOT (Lead)
Strategic Objective:
Continue to support FCC Program issues and initiatives, provide status updates on Frenquency Coordination contracts and license renewals due dates, support Interoperability, peer exchanges, training and education, best practices sharing, legacy systems transformation, and finally connecting with other AASHTO committees and other Associations/entities, as appropriate.
TWG 2 – Spectrum Management – Collin Castle, Michigan DOT (Lead)
Spectrum Management
Strategic Objective
Maintain awareness and monitor developments impacting State DOT frequency management activities (e.g. FCC rulemakings). Provide technical support on FCC and other federal or nationwide issues related to spectrum sharing, future communication technologies, and Federal rule makings. Develop issues-based white papers and serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for AASHTO Committees and State DOTs at technical, policy and executive levels.
TWG 3 – Cyber Security – Russ Buckhholz, North Dakota DOT (Lead)
Strategic Objectives
Support the National Cybersecurity Task Force being organized by ITE and other partners. Serve as the AASHTO Subject Matter Expert (SME) group to support cybersecurity initiatives related to research, policy, training, education, peer exchanges, and pertinent funding initiatives.
TWG 4 – Future and Emerging Technology – Ferdinand Milanes, Caltrans (Lead)
Strategic Objectives
Provide a framework for DSRC and other pertinent license application and approval procedures using current FCC license coordination methods as a baseline available approach. Coordinate with all backhaul initiatives related to the above listed CV and AV and other emerging technologies.
